Dr. Yu from CPHC will moderate the session. We will gauge perspectives on the 4 topics mentioned from men living in Chinatown. We need someone (preferably male) who is fluent in Cantonese to translate the session into English on the laptop during the session.

Visitation Valley Health Fair

We need health volunteers to assist with height and weight measuring, vision screening, nutrition education.

Chinatown Public Health Center

Chinatown Health Fair
Friday August 25, 2pm-6pm
888 Clay, SF
We need health volunteers to assist with height and weight measuring, vision screening, nutrition education. This health fair is targeted towards children, and we expect about 70 children to get screened.

Fresh Start Families Festival
Saturday August 27th, 12pm-5pm
DeFremery Park (1651 Adeline Street, Oakland)
VHIO will be providing interpretation services in a number of booths at this festival. We will be assisting with intake, blood pressure screening, hight/weight checks, diabetes screening, cholesterol screening, HIV screening, bone barrow typing, mobile dental services, mobile optometric services, and free immunizations for children. Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Spanish interpreters are needed. We will also be tabling to let the community and other organizations know about the services we provide.

Korean Cultural Day Festival
Saturday August 27th, 9am-3pm
Union Square
The goal is to inform as many people as possible of the disease and for them to get screened if they have not already done so. Volunteers will stand in front of the booth to attract people for more info. Create good energy and be friendly to the public!

Chinatown Streetfest
Saturday August 27th and Sunday August 28th, 10am-4pm
Alta Bates seeks Cantonese and Mandarin speakers to assist with blood pressure screening. Shifts are 2 hours, and volunteering will be done on an individual basis. For more information or to sign up, contact Arlene Swinderman at 510-869-8229 or swindea@sutterhealth.org
