Public Health and Molecular & Cell Biology

Hello everybody, my name is Zeyi. I am very honored and excited to continue as the Director of External Affairs for 2019 - 2020. I am a fourth year Public Health and MCB - Genetics double major. I have joined VHIO since I was a freshman and this has certainly been one of the best parts of my college experience. The mission to break language barriers in healthcare and serve underserved communities has resonated with me a lot since the very beginning and this experience has further confirmed my career aspirations. VHIO is truly a great place to serve the community while meeting awesome people! In my spare time, I love to go hiking and watch cute puppy videos.

I am excited to continue to break the language barriers and work with people who share the same passion of serving the community!

Molecular Environmental Biology

Hello! I’m a second year majoring in MEB and am from a concentrated spot of Vietnamese-Americans in SoCal known as Little Saigon. I care deeply about a plethora of many things: global climate change (we should stand for what we stand on), my friends, tiramisu, living a bountiful life, clothing with pockets in them, Rihanna, and making my parents proud. If you ever need a conversation starter with me, that’s a good list to go off of. I love meeting new friends! 🙂

Molecular and Cell Biology

Hello! My name is Catherine Livelo and I look forward to being one of the Tagalog Department Coordinators for VHIO this year! I grew up in San Diego, CA and am currently a 3rd year majoring in Molecular Cell Biology with an emphasis in Neurobiology here at UC Berkeley. Joining VHIO has allowed me to not only help individuals in community struggling with language barriers but also pursue my interests in the pre-health industry. In being a part of this incredibly altruistic organization, I've gotten to meet an amazing cohort of warm-hearted and dedicated individuals and connect with patients on a cultural level. During my free time, I enjoy adventuring around SF (especially for boba), cooking, and binge-watching Netflix.

Hello! My name is Minori.
I joined VHIO during my first semester at Berkeley last year as a freshman, and I am excited to be one of the Japanese Department Coordinators. Because I have had a difficult time overcoming the language barrier myself in the U.S., serving as an interpreter/translator through VHIO to help people communicate has been a very fulfilling experience for me. In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano and hiking or simply going for a nice walk. Please let me know if you know of any good hiking trail and want a buddy to come along! I look forward to having another great year with all of the VHIO members.

Psychology and Economics

Hello everyone! My name is Amy Cha and I’m a second year studying Psychology and Economics. Growing up, being Korean American was a huge part of my identity.
